Does anyone know of a bank chain that will allow one with an FM3 to open a personal checking account? Here in my city, Banamex, Bancomer, and 2 others all require an FM2. Anyone?

We have opened personal checking accounts in PVR and when we moved to GDL six months ago, we opened a checking account. We have FM3 visas. Both of these are Banamex accounts.

Friends in Tepic and here in GDL have personal checking accounts and both have FM3 visas. They have Bancomer accounts.

I personally can vouch that Scotiabank will let you open a checking account with an FM3. For their basic accounts, you have to keep 2000 pesos minimum in the account, and there is a monthly charge of 40 pesos. Also, they charge you for just about everything, little rinky dink stuff, but I think almost all of the banks in Mexico do this as well.

My Scotiabank account has 0 minimum balance, 15. pesos month service
charge and master charge debit card......no checks,.... because nobody in Mexico will take a check. There is not enough trust in the banking system or each other for that yet. Maybe the next century. Bear

What is the best way to tranfer money back to my home country (Canada)? I'm working in Mexico now but at the end of my time here would like to transfer money to my account in my home country, with a minimum of charges and with a decent exchange rate. I don't currently have an account here but do have an FM3 so any advice about the best way to do this and the best bank to deal with would be appreciated. Thanks.

Open account at Scotiabank, Mx. and then when you return Canada, open
account Scotiabank, Canada. Easy to transfer money and cheap. Just
have Mexico money moved to Canada Account. Bear
