Temporary car import permit online

I understand that the temporary car permit that is required for US or Canadian citizens bringing a vehicle into Mexico is now available online at www.banjercito.com.mx.
Has anybody tried this and how exactly does it work when crossing the border?
I noticed that the cost online is 667 pesos. We never paid more than $35 at the border.

I've used it about 5 or 6 times now. It's about $20 more than at the border (you also pay that premium to get the permit at a consulate) but worth it, in my opinion. It's nice to head for the border knowing you have one thing out of the way. Sometimes the line for permits at the border is long, sometimes not. And you still need the FMT if you're not a Mexican national but that process is usually quick. No worry that your supporting docs will be questioned.

You fill out the form and pay the online, they say allow something like 12 days but it has always arrived within 3 or 4 days. They say it can only be delivered to the person named on the permit and you hve to show the credit card used to pay for it but that has never been enforced. Fedex lets my wife sign for it while I am at work.

Then stick it on the car and go to Mexico! BTW, they use a nasty glue on the sticker and it will not peel off cleanly when you exit the country. It tears apart and leaves a heavy residue that is very hard to get off. Last time I stuck it to a piece of thin semi-rigid plastic (like the plastic used to package memory sticks and such that is a pain to get open) then taped that to the window. Nobody had a problem with it, even the cop that pulled me over for a violation.

You're supposed to mail/email your supporting docs after you receive it but I never have. Don't forget to turn it in when leaving Mexico, make sure they scan it and give you a printed receipt. Save that receipt "just in case", since if their records fail to show you turned it in they will assume you left the car in Mexico and you won't be allowed another one.

Darn, my my girlfriends and I are attending one of our best friends wedding in New York on Thanksgiving but since the celebration is going to be only a few hours since the couple are planning to fly immediately to Italy, we were thinking about using the car service we booked in going to Mexico. After reading this thread though I realized that would be impossible.
