I'm trying to plan a family vacation. I've been looking at so many beautiful areas in Mexico. I love the beach, my husband and son want to learn to sail, do some deep sea fishing and my daughter wants to go whitewater rafting. I would rather stay at the beach and travel to do the rafting. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm trying to plan this for 2 weeks in June. I also would like to rent a place for a couple of months, this summer, for me and my daughter. She is taking online classes and needs internet access. My budget is flexible for the vacation.

Deep sea fishing almost everywhere, sailing charters in most tourist resorts, sailing lessons probably pretty rare, white water rafting probably non-existent anywhere.
Focus on beach and ocean activities (surfing, fishing, swimming) and you'll do better. Places with internet will require some searching ... but there are always plenty of inexpensive internet cafes. |

On the pacific (which eliminates the rafting) I know that Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo(sp) have the other three activities, and are relatively easy to get to by plane. They definitely had sailboats to rent in Zihua, and the bay around it is pretty enclosed so you could learn without having to deal with a lot of wind. I used to teach sailing in NC and the setting is great to learn, not sure about the teachers tho - I didn't look when I was there. Ixtapa has skydiving, more built up with nice resturants, while Zihua has more houses/condos for rent. Not sure about the climate there right now - I have heard it gets hot in April/May, but now that the rains have come it may be back to normal. |

The heat is something to consider if coming for summer. So far no rain in the Melaque - Manzanillo area.
