It is every citizens’ right to be aware of the unnecessary deaths of tourists, particularly children while vacationing in the Riviera Maya. It should be the right of all citizens to know the increased safety and security issues in the area when Mexico reaps the benefits of 20 million North American tourists annually. Resorts, particulary in the Riviera Maya need to enforce safety standards for all resorts/hotels as a means to prevent such senseless and unnecessary deaths. To date, the U.S. and Mexican Governments have not taken any action toward the resolving a growing issue.
