Default Winter Getaway 2007

Living in New England can make even the meekest person homicidal by mid-February. That's why my wife and I make a point of going somewhere warm and sunny for a week or so - just to recharge the batteries and remind ourselves that there are places in the world without snow.

For the past few years our getaways have been to Placencia, Belize. It's still a great vacation spot, but it's changing from a sleepy paradise to a collection of pricy tropical resorts. Our goal is total relaxation, plentiful sunshine and good food - far away from the resort complexes and timeshare salesmen. That's not too much to ask for seven days, is it?

Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to visit Cabo for five days. Downtown is a bit party-centric for our tastes, but from there we learned about Todos Santos, which I understand to be somewhat more sedate but every bit as starkly beautiful as the nicer parts of Cabo. I've read about summer visits to Todos Santos, but is the weather there warm enough for sunbathing in January and February?

Any other tips - pro or con - would be greatly appreciated. Gracias!

RVGRINGO is an unknown quantity at this point
Default A slower pace?

You sound like you might like Manzanillo or other smaller towns nearby. Play with Google.

Thumbs up Getaway

I think you might like "Villa Vera Puerto Mio" in Zihuatanejo.
We just spent 2 weeks there and it was great. Kinda like a honeymoon
destination. Only 23 rooms but great service and views.
Zihuatanejo is much a Mexican town. Most of the tourists are
in Ixtapa which is about five miles away. Need more info contact
me glenncoburn@juno.com.
Enjoy
