Default towing a boat

If you ever tow your boat to Cancun, it will be as safe as towing in the USA.
You will have to add it to your vehicle permit at the border, but when your truck leaves Mexico, it will have to leave with the truck.
It is a very long trip from your home to Cancun, especially towing a boat.

Exclamation Boat

We did just that in 1992 We trailered down a 21 ft boat from MI to Miami and shipped both My truck (Explorer) and the boat to Puerto Morelos with Hyde Shipping.
I would not drive to Cancun pulling a boat even in the States we did not sleep to well at night worrying about what might be stolen in the middle of the night.... Mexico you would have to hire someone to watch it and then hire another person to watch them
What Kind of Boat is it? Ours is a Whaler and We use it almost Daily Especially for Fishing. I would not want to go any smaller if you are planning to go out of the Lagoon its just not Safe.
Should you plan to use it for the Sea think about bringing one that is at least 20ft especially if you are going to go through the hassle of Shipping or pulling it down a few more feet make a world of difference in Safety and Comfort.

Default long distance towing

Carol,
I think I agree with you. Before I sold my Whaler 20ft Revenge (when I retired), I towed from Northern California to Vancouver a couple times.
While on the road, we spent most our time worrying about the boat stuff
getting ripped off. I dont think I would like that pressure from New Jersy to Cancun. I can see that a Whaler would be a great boat for that area of
Mexico.

Frank, We have the Revenge as well have had it since 1979 up untill 92 it was used in the Lakes in and around Mi. I love that boat but we are looking for a larger one now, still for Sportfishing though.
