Hiring a driver

I was planning on renting a car once in Oaxaco; however, it seems very costly. I thought that instead it might be nicer to hire a driver; both for me and for providing income to someone. Does anyone know how to go about doing this? Will it become clear once I am there?

Buses and taxis are the way most people get around in Oaxaca. If you want a driver for a longer period of time, I'm sure you can make a deal with a taxi driver.

Public transportation is cheap and readily available.

If you're thinking of taking a longer trip, for example, heading down to the beach from Oaxaca City, take the bus.
There are some very nice bus lines in Mexico.

Let someone else do the driving.
