hello; we have been travelling in Mexico for almost 6 months (this year) and find our brake controller for our travel trailer has broken. Does anyone have any ideas where we can get a new one or repair this one? It seems to be a short within the controller itself. The controller is still under warranty but I can't imagine how difficult it will be to get a new one into the country (after going through the same issue with a laptop in Mazatlan in March).
Thanks so much for any assistance you can offer. |

Find an RV accessory dealer in the USA who is willing to ship you a controller VIA DHL or FedEx (You need to find out which company services your area in Mexico).
Have the parts seller make out TWO invoices for your credit card purchase: 1. Invoice for the part 2. Invoice for shipping and handling Have the parts seller HIDE invoice #2 deep within the package stuffing materials. Mexican ADUANA will TAX THE WHOLE INVOICE including shipping, handling and any USA based fees or taxes. Now you need to find a WELL KNOWN ADDRESS to have the package shipped to. If your rig is in an RV park that is well-known then that would be good enough. Expect to pay SIXTY DOLLARS in transportation and TWENTY PERCENT TAX on the invoice. Most importantly, expect to see your package FOUR SHIPPING DAYS later. The delivery service delivers the part right to your door, and collects all taxes and fees and time of delivery. |

I just looked in the Guadalajara Yellow Pages and found ten pages of display ads for 'Frenos/Brakes'. I then looked under 'Remolques/Trailers' and found one ad which mentions servicing electric brakes/frenos eléctricos. Therefore, they must have controlers. They also have a website which you might try:
"Partes y Accesorios para Remolques" CARGA FACIL, CALLE 4 NO. 2724, ZONA INDUSTRIAL, GUADALAJARA 44940 TEL. (33) 38 12 82 88 FAX. (33) 38 12 50 53 WWW.CARGAFACIL.COM FACIL@CARGAFACIL.COM
