The drive from Morelia to Patz is only 1.5 hours (beautiful drive). The only place that I stayed at for one week in Patz is the Hotel Mansion Iturbe which is a great B&B. Also check out their 5 star hotel called La Casa de Los Suenos. If you need a tour guide for a day, look up Miguel ANgel Nunez (monarca6@prodigy.net.mex). He is great and is fluent in English and knows the area.

Another B&B is Casa Brunson (phylis@mail.ml.com.mx). Have not stayed there but it looked great and in a good location in town.

Enjoy

I think the drive from Morelia to Patzcuaro is more like 40 mins

I stayed at Hotel Gran on plaza Chica - medium price

I agree with Sparks. The highway is a divided 4-lane. Nice, easy, scenic drive..
