How long do you think it will take for Pemex to start making the new 5ppm diesel that the Excited States is mandating for 2007 vehicles? We are thinking of getting a new truck and were thinking used before, but now, since we travel Mexico, it will be used for sure.

The new ultra low diesel is already out in california and the ppm is 15. I am in the petroleum industry and i dont believe you should have any problem with switching back to the old .500 ppm stuff. In fact, some U.S. states are going to continue to make both( not california of course ). The sulfer content is mostly a lubricity factor and bringing down to .15ppm is for lower emissions. You may see scare stories in the owners manual, but if it was me, i wouldn't worry about it. I will check on when and if mexico is going to change. I hope this is helpful.
