Good luck with the fishing, if you could please post the results and any interesting information about the event here afterwards. Let me know if you have a link to the official site, it might make for a good bit of news for the Isla Mujeres city guide.
Thank you, Rolf

As is often the case in Mexico they are once again postponing the Tournament at Isla, It seems that the Governor of Q.Roo Wants to fish in it and will not be free this weekend and so as to accomodate Him they are postponing it yet again

I am wondering if anyone plunked down any cash (plane ticket, boat & tackle rental, time off from work) to partake in this particular tournament. Hope not, does sound more like a local little gathering. Have fun when it does finally take place, unless the fish have taken the month off.

I don't know about fishing over there, but I caught a 3m Pez Vella (sp?), 37kilos in Manzanillo in Nov. Sure was a blast, but being an old foggie, it was a tough haul. My arm hurt for three days.

I am planning to travel to Cancun this coming spring. Can anyone on the board tell me whether Isla Mujeres is a great place to go and hang out, or is it a tourist trap? Pros and Cons vis' a' vis Cancun itself?

Isla is a great place to visit very laid back.
That being said I guess it depends on the Tourist,it can be a trap but this is true everywhere I just go with the Idea that nothing is free and if it sounds to good to be true its timeshare We are going to San Fransisco next week and with the purchase of our trip a "free" Bay cruise is included I am willing to bet anything that there will be a sales pitch at some point . And by the way I believe we will be in SF when they finally do have the Tournament next weekend ![]() Last edited by cancuncarol : 08-12-2005 at 09:50 AM. |
