Default Puerto Vallarta November 2-10

We will be visiting PV for our first time in early Noember, and can't wait! By then it should be cold and rainy here in Washington, and the warnmer weather will be very nice.

I have my air travel booked, but no lodging yet - trying to decide between All Inclusive or regular - Any advise? Seems like a good deal, even if you just use your all inclusive for breakfast & a couple drinks a day, it would seem to pay for itself. We want to sample the local cuisine for dinners though.

We want to be close to town, the Buenaventure appears to be within walking distance - any good?

We are very active outdoorsy type folks - ski, hike, camp, snowshoe, run - what active activities can you all recommend? I would like to be able to walk to town each day for a little exercise, but also want some more outdoor activities.

Any advise on Restrants, Lodging, Tours would be greatly appreciated!

Dawn

I liked Puerto Vallarta, despite the numbers of tourists! Once you get away from the resort areas, the town has a nice feel. I know there is horseback riding available. Try walking up some of the back roads into the hills behind town. There are some great local restaurants as well. Have fun!

Default Pv

If your into fishing, it is prime time tuna fishing...actually almost all around fishing in PV right now. I just got back yesterday and on Sunday I saw a boat come in with a 230lb tuna. Although I have never stayed at the Buenaventura, i've heard good things about it, and it is a good location if you are interested in walking to town. There is a company called Vallarta Adventures...they are the largest there and have excellent tours from horseback riding, atving, canopy tours...they are the company you would want to go with. If you are interested in fishing, reply with a post and I'll give you a captains name and number that is known for being very successful. I have to warn you, there are squalos (small tropical storms) almost every night during this season, it is mostly lightining and thunder and rain for an hour or so but it is absolutely gorgeous. I know Puerto Vallarta pretty well so if you need restaurant recommendations or what not, again just post a reply. Good Luck!

Default PV in November

Forget the all inclusive!!! There are so many great restaurants in PV
you will miss out. Try staying at a smaller hotel on the south end of town,
it's older, has more character and cobble stone streets etc.
You may want to check www.vallarta-info.com, they have down to earth recommendations on hotel, restaurants etc, etc.......
You will have fun there, don't forget to hit the Malecon on Sunday nights!!

Default PV once again 10/17-11/10 OldTown/SouthSide

I research, edit and publish a restaurant guide on the PV bay area so AI is of no interest to me, but some people like it if they make sure to do a lot of outside venturing nand not miss the fine regional cuisine. Buenaventura is just fine to stay at. I will be back in town 10/17-11/10, so send me a private email if you would like to join one of my Internet get-togethers for lunch or a cafe, etc.
