Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

If you are going in the near future, post me and I will address your questions to make your trip more pleasant! I first visited in 1979 and now have a spot to stay part-time. Paradise bliss...!!!

I am off to PV once more on 10/17 to do research, staying in the SouthSide area, Playa Los Muertos. Lots of restaurants, bars, good, fun beach with palapas and drinks, music sometimes. Will visit a few restaurants I need for reviews in the local papers and to do a radio show promoting my newly published Puerto Vallarta Restaurant Guide Beck's Best. Join and fun and give your assessments.

Default Rent

Gary, what would you say would be the average rent for a two bedroom home in PV? You know, something fairly nice.

TJM~

Well, are you talking about one week, one month, a year? Location? Must it be on the beach [add 50% more at least]? Dates? Thanksgiving through Easter are high season [add 100-150%]? Part of town? SouthSide? Hotel zone? Marina? Time shares? Bucerias? Mismaloya? 'Home' meaning stand alone place or condo or hotel? All this affect my answers as I cannnot type one price for any of 12 months and all the above quetions, so repost here and then I can give you better/closer/more accurate rates! Gracias.
Off on 10/17-11/10, so post before then!!!

First off, Playa Los Muertos is the very popular beach in SouthSide, just below the Rio Cuale. This is a convenient bustling part of town which I love. It is lined with: parasail, jet skis, vendors, beach cafes and restaurants, fresh fish and fruit stands, the pier, boats to the North and South or day cruises, hotels, b & b's, condos, villas, hiking, horseback riding, shopping, sunbathing, volleyball, banana boats, motor boats, fishing, bus routes, taxis, etc.

A nice long walk away from the beach is a wonderful way to immerse in the local Latino customs and way of life. Beware of tourist traps and gimmicks to buy overpriced trinkets but there are buys all along the byways from ceramics to dolls to clothes to jewelry to sandals to glass to wind chimes...get the picture?

Any specific questions, feel free to email me privately unless the subject would be of interest to the general membership here!

6 more days and I am back...

Default Need a map??

Well even though it isn't PV, Playa Del Carmen is a great spot.
An international crowd, not as many drunk teenagers as Cancun.
Visit some small towns east of there if you like to dive or snorkle.
Paamul, Akumal are a couple.

Have fun
Glenn

We've been to Playa del Carmen twice and we are going back in 2007 because some friends are getting married at the La Tortuga Hotel, which is a wonderful little hotel. It's not on the beach, about a 4 or 5 block walk. We didn't mind the walk though. We would bar hop on the way back to the hotel. There was a great little cafe called "Jaimies", it's on one of the side streets. Ask around, if it's still there the locals will give you directions. They serve the best shrimp tacos I've ever had.
YOU'LL HAVE FUN!
