Default What requirements for elderly Mexican couple to visit United States?

There's an elderly couple who've lived in Mexico their entire life and have never been to the United States. Their 50th wedding anniversary is approaching, and since they don't have a lot of money, I was thinking about flying them up here to stay with us for a week or two. I have no idea where to start when it comes to documentation required for them to make the trip. They live in a very small town (if you can even call it that) far away from any city of significant size, so driving back and forth to fill out documents is probably out of the question. Obviously, I have many questions, here are some of them:
1. What kind of documentation will they need to complete?
2. How much will it cost?
3. How long of a process is it (i.e., how soon could they visit us?)
4. I want to do as much of the process for them as I possibly can. Can I start by getting the required documents via the internet and mailing to them for completion?
5. Is this whole idea even possible?

I don't know if this message board is the right place for me to be asking these questions, but if someone reads this and knows where I should go to get the right kind of assistance, I would greatly appreciate the information. I've already located the nearest Mexican Consulate's office, but haven't made an appointment yet.

Signed,
Confused, but Hopeful Gringo

Gaining necessary approvals to make the trip will involve jumping through a series of "hoops." Firstly, they will need to obtain passports and permisson from Mexico to travel. Sometimes, that's easier said than done. Then, secondly, they'll have to meet the requirements of the USA - and those requirements are sometimes so stringent (and subjective) that perfectly nice people are denied travel visas.

For the requirements they'll have to meet that are imposed by the USA, consult the US Embassy in Mexicio City web page - it's clearly detailed. For the Mexican requirements, they should probably consult local municipio officials.

Getting a visa to enter the USA legally can be a time consuming process, full of frustrations and delays (as can the process of getting a Mexican passport, for some people).

You've come to the right place to ask your question. Other contributors will likely add there own comments to what I've opined. Best of luck - it's a nice thing you're trying to accomplish.

File this under "might be a bunch of BS" but when I was in Chiapas last week, I was talking with one of the guys that I was staying with about the troubles that a lot of my Mexican friends were having in getting visas to the US...even those that had legal relatives in the US. He goes often to the US to visit friends and has no problems getting a visa.

His secret (I laughed): Tell them you're going to disneyworld!

Of course your mileage will vary, and I know I would rather stay in Mexico than go to DisneyWorld

I do not believe visa for elderly as difficult as young persons as long as they show affidavit to return to their home and show some assets.

Tourist visa B2 fee $260.00 the form cost $60.00, you can get it on line, time could take 1-3 month to be approved for back ground criminal check if any in USA. then they will call you for last interview and visa stamping.

For passport it could take 3-6 months depend on your documents readiness you may contact Mex consulate.

To enter US legally you have to have some form of proof, GC or visa or US passport if you are USc. you can not board the Airplane without it. FRom and to Mexico US. citizen need ID. and birth certificate to board the Airplane

Last month just got back from oversea I have to show my passport every time I walk through any boarding door not just the boarding pass will do.
