Default Northbound border crossing

Sentri is a program, available at some northbound border crossings, whereby
people living in Mexico and having frequent business or jobs in the US can cross quickly by means of a scanner readable device on the windshield
of their auto or truck. It helps low risk pre-qualified northbound border crossers get across more quickly. Not all border crossings have this program.

Good info about SENTRI from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website:

Default Sentri Pass

One doesn't necessarily need to be "living" in Mexico to utilize the Sentri Pass system. We have a sentri pass because we own a vacation home in Bajamar. We cross the border frequently on the weekends, when traffic is at its highest. Our usual wait time with the sentri pass is about 5-10 minutes, even on a busy weekend. Lots of paper work to fill out and vehicle inspections. But, believe me, if you go down to Baja frequently, it is worth the time and expense.

Many years ago I was responsible for a volunteer program in British Columbia for which there were some restrictions, depending on the type of criminal conviction. I provided potential volunteers with information about how to go about getting pardon from the federal government for criminal convictions. The process was not onerous, but it did take a year or so.

I suggest you contact Corrections Canada and see about obtaining a pardon. The cost was minimal (at least is was 30 years ago when I was the co-ordinator of volunteers) and the work was minimal.

This may stand you in a better position for many things in the future where the existance of a previous record may create a problem.
