Can someone direct me to a site where I can learn about Mexican customs requirements, relative to taking building supplies and personal furnishings to Baja Calif (Ensenada) for a home currently under construction?

Hello King,
Here is a good place to start: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_p.../cis_2139.html Lots of good information about customs regulations on the page. In this type of situation you might have to do several small trips over time in order to not get hassled at the border. I know they routinely search vehicles that are loaded down and often make them return to the states if there is too much stuff on board. Good luck!

I have made many trip accross the Arizona/Mexico border with a car and trailor fully loaded. I have found that the smaller border towns give you less of a hassle however if you will just stop and declare a good portion of what you have the coustoms officials have always been FAIR with me. The $50 per person entry allotment will take a lot of the burden off. However I return to Mexico in Sep 05 after 2 months of vacation and a lot of yard sales. My SUV was packed/car top carrier packed and a trailor hitch rack packed. I just walked into the customs office ask for an inspector and $27 later with declaration papers in hand left and was not hassled by any one. Try not to rip off the Customs agents and they will treat you fairly. This has been my experence.
