Hello
My airplane arrives 19.00 in Mexico City in January and i need to go to Valle de Bravo. Last bus as i understand it leaves 19.30 from the observatory. So i do not think we will make it. What is best approach for me to do this? we will most likely be 4 persons with alot of luggage. One option could be to take bus to Toluca, and maybe get a cab from there, or will this be very expensive or difficult? Maybe someone knows a person in Valle that could come and pick us up? Any tips would be very appreciated! |

I would say your options are: - take the bus from the airport to Toluca, and buy a bus ticket when you arrive for an early departure to Valle de Bravo. Spend the night in Toluca. - take a bus from the airport to Toluca, and then get a taxi to Valle De Bravo (the distance from Toluca is about 75 kilometers, so thats a pretty hefty taxi fare) - stay in Mexico City for the night and in the morning take a bus from the Poniente (Observatorio) station. Option 3 is bad news, you really don't want to ride around on the Metro late at night or early in the morning during rush hours with baggage. 1 is a sure thing, and I really have no idea what 2 might cost. Probably in the neighborhood of $50 USD, but that may depend on your spanish and negotiating skills. Here are a couple of links that may be helpful: http://www.tmt-caminante.com.mx (bus service directly from the airport (near the international terminal) to Toluca http://www.todovalle.net/english/gettingto.htm |

Take a Caminante bus from the airport to Toluca, and spend the night there. In the a.m. head for Valle de Bravo via bus. If you'll be in Toluca on a Friday a.m., stick around for one of the better local weekly markets in the country. Valle de Bravo makes an good day-trip, but I still don't understand why people see it as a destination (not that that's what the OP says).

Thanks for your replies!!
Valle is a destination for me, because I will be there for two weeks for a flying competition. Last year I was lucky because the girl next to me in the plane, about my age, was also alone, and after some drinking in the plane we hit it off and i stayed at her hotellrom. I dont think i will be that lucky this year...at least not be able to drag my 3 friends with me.. Well 50$ for a cab from Toluca to Valle isnt to bad if we splitt it on 4. Or was that 50$ pr person? Could be a good option. But maybe we would save money to find a hotell close to the busterminal and go with bus in the morning? |
