Default How is Travel in Chiapas?

My family and I are considering traveling to Palenque and San Cristobal de las Casas by car from Cuernavaca. Does anyone have any recent experience on road conditions? Thanks! David.

My friends just went to Palenque and Tuxtla for day of the dead, and at the bus station they were told that the usually 10-hour ride to Tuxtla may be as long as 14 hours because of detours and road closures, especially to the cuotas. That route runs thru Veracruz, Tabasco, and then finally Chiapas. They should be back sometime tommorrow, I'll post if they have any new info.
