Hello
I would like give my vehicle (from USA) to my cousin who live in Mexico as a gift. My vehicle is 1990 Playmouth Laszer RS. Anybody can tell me what I have to do or what document I need order to transfer to Mexico. Thank You |

I doubt if you can as the only USA vehicles that can be imported are 1998 year vehicles. Next year, it will be 1999 ones. Of course, he could just drive it as a "chocolate".

A "chocolate" is an illegal car. You see them still with the plates from the US. Bought in the US by a Mexican and not imported.

Could you please direct me to any current online info re: legalizing cars? I've heard of this recent restriction that cars must be exactly 10 years old but can't seem to find info. We are considering importing cars as a legal business and I want to research possibilities. Thanks mucho.

I don't know of any "official" site, however, there are many sites that are stating that only 1998's can be imported. Next year, 2009, it will be 1999's. I would suggest that you contact the nearest Mexican consulate for "official" information.
