Can a family friend go into Mexico and get a birth certificate for my dad? He has no family that is living so we wanted to know if a friend can get it for him. He is unable to go because he does not have a passport so that is out of the question. Any help would be great, thank you.

in some cases a friend can. If he got a "copia certificada" of his birth certificate in the past is easy, there are some automatic machines kinda ATMs that you only provide certain numbers (social security # or CURP) and they print you the birth certificate. His friend can go in Mexico and do it that way.
If he didnīt have a copy, I think he can make a letter, a "CARTA PODER", he can write it, only the date, the details about what he wants him friend to get and sign it. In some places works perfectly. If he doesn{t have a passport but his VISA and permission havenīt expire, he can still go to Mexico, depends on the airline or if he goes by land is easier. |

Thank you for a quick response. He only has a copy but it doesn't have it certified and he needs the birth certificated to have its seal of stamp in order for him to collect social secruity. Thats is why I wanted to know if my friend can go down there and just ask if she could get a certified copy of his birth certificate and I was going to send his copy with here and a letter stating that he gave her permission to pick up a certified copy with a seal.
