Red face Driving in Mexico

My wife and I are considering driving from Monterrey to San Luis Potosi with friends who live in Monterrey. I have no idea what road conditions are like on this drive and was wondering if anyone has any idea? Other questions include is there medical care available en route, safety etc...

Sorry if I sound like a rookie, but I figure if I have the question, I should ask.

Excellent highway all the way from Monterry to San Luis. This is the NAFTA highway, so you know that it is good condition.

Thanks for the response. Is route 57 a four lane highway? Divided? Toll Road?

Hi there- Highway 57 is like a US interstate except less cars and probably you could go faster. Go check out the town of Mineral de Pozos about 1.5 hours south...it is fill with old mine ruins and a couple of cool restaurants. It is fun just to walk around town and see the old ways of living, like you stepped back in the 1800's. Have fun!
