Default Driving a Mexican registered car to US question...

Hi, I'm new here so any help will be much apreciated!

I'm from Scotland and have been living in Mexico for the last month... I've bought a car here and would like to drive it from Guadalajara to probably Florida where i'll ship it to the UK.

I'm just wondering if I can do that? Is there any laws that prevent me from doing this... The car is registered in Mexico and in my name. Also it is 33 years old. Does anyone know what documents I would need?

Also I am 19, so I think I'm old enough to drive in the States...

Any help would be great,

Thanks Very Much

Marko

Well you MIGHT be ok becuase of the age. It does not need to pass any EPA or safety standards___ MAYBE.Because this is a Mexican vehicle I suggest you google" importing a car into the USA. You are looking for 3 web sites: USA Customs. EPA and DOT (or whatever the USA calls highway safety). Any information you get from me or anyone else in this forum is useless. You need to get your info from the "rule maker".

Default Found this...

Hey, thanks for the advice!

I done a bit of research and from what i've found out so far i should be able to enter the us and use my car there for a year on mexican plates.

The web site i got my info from is

http://www.foreignborn.com/visas_imm...#documentation

Also as you said, i dont think i need to go through any saftey tests as the car is over 25yrs old...

If anyone knows if there might be any other complications i've forgotten, please let me know.

Thanks again for your help
