Default Day trip to Uruapan?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to visit Uruapan and the "Volcano Village" nearby on a day trip from Morelia? Or would it be best to spend the night in Urapan?

Thanks.

Sandi

Default Uruapan: Day Trip

Hello Sandi,
We live in Estado de Mexico and went on a day trip to Patzcuaro and would have liked to have made it to Uruapan but time ran out.

We wish we had stayed overnight as we saw many places on this route we would have liked to have investigated.

Lucky you, but why would you want to make such a rapid trip, I have spent much time in the area for thirty years and know it well. You could drive to Uruapan and back if you didn't want to see anything or stop for lunch but how can you pass Patzcuarro with out spending a day there first then a couple hours comfortable hours to Uruapan where you need at least a day, the rose gardens, the incredable park with all the water, the falls just out side of the city you can ride horses back to. this is an incredable place.
Then once you get out of the city and visit the wonderful little villages you will be fascinated and want to check out another one. Each famous for an art known only to them. I could tell you some places to see but there are to many . Please take as much time as you can possibly spare. No need for room reservations as there are lots of places so don't stop at the first one if you are not happy with it.

Please take more time, I will be in the area again this winter and can not wait.

Sandi, I am wondering if you have any idea that when you visit what you refer to as the "volcano town". It is , once you arive, a bit of a trip by horse back to where the village with the top of the church sticking out is. If you need a name for the place I have brochures but to tired to get them at the moment. This is really a strenous trip but great for the young.
