Hi to all! I am new to this forum, but have read many of the posts contained on it and I like what I see. As a relative new comer, and one who is planning a trip from Nogales to Mazatlan, I have a few questions. I have been as far as San Carlos in my RV, but never as far as Mazatlan.
Question #1. Are RVs permitted to park overnight at Pemex stations and are they safe? That's actually two questions. Question #2. Does anyone know a safe RV site halfway between San Carlos and Mazatlan? Thanks for any and all help. Larry |

First off, you will need to ask permission at the Pemex of choice. Buying gas, snacks etc is not a bad idea, many I have talked to give a tip to the guard on duty. No one has every told me of being denied permission to stay over night or have I every heard of anyone having problems.
If you don´t already own one, buy Church´s guide book Camping in Mexico. They have info on your Pemex question and list RV parks all over Mexico. Also you can go to their update web page for the lastest opening and closings of parks.

From San Carlos you could stay in Los Mochis. Not a great spot but convenient. There are a lot of Pemex's but they can be noisy at night. We have never been refused but always buy fuel.

I have always stayed overnight at the toll booths. The milititary looks after the people that stay there. there always alot of cars and rv's at the booths. pretty safe. have a safe trip.

The problem with the toll booths is that rumble strip and jake Brakes- it's noisier there than at a Pemex

i would recomend that you cross into mexico at 5 am if you are coming from the arizona nogales entrance, you can take the exit that is for truckers (there is a carls jr) this way you will avoid the regular entrance and you will stop at kilometer 30's where you can get your fmt visa and permit for you r/v . from there to hermosillo then los mochis.... i have to check on a map ... there is an r/v camp aprox 14 hours at 60 mph from entering mexico... i will check to see if i can remember the name....
while some r/v guys do stay at pemex gas stations, i would not do that....... |

Hi Moisheh - have you stayed in any RV parks in Los Mochis? If so, can you give me the name(s) and a rating? Thanks. Larry
