Thank you for your help RVGRINGO.
I've already asked at INM, and they told me that i can't renew my wife's FM3 outside Mexico. So, i have a problem. Do you know how much will i have to pay because the FM3 surely is going to expire? and i won't be able to renew it on time. By the why, any one knows what is the penalty for failing to update the address on an FM3 when more than a month has elapsed after changing the previos address?. ![]() |

There are fines for renewing an FM3 late. When changing your address, no one seems too concerned about the actual date of the move and I doubt that it would ever be something to worry about. There is probably a small fine if you were to declare a date too far out of the 30 day "window". After all, you do need to wait for an CFE or Telmex bill to arrive to prove your new address, and that takes time.
Another option might be to just let the FM3 expire while you are out of the country and get a fresh FMT when you return. Then, 30 days before it is to expire you can apply for a new FM3 if you plan to be in Mexico long enough to make that worthwhile. If not, you can apply for an extension of the FMT. Of course, if your wife wants to work in Mexico again, that complicates the problem; she should then beg for late renewal and pay the applicable fine. Since you are a Mexican national, you should have no problem getting her documents in order if you are actually residents of Mexico. Last edited by RVGRINGO : 01-11-2006 at 03:24 PM. |

RVGRINGO, first of all, let me tell you that your explanations are quite good, you have helpped me a lot to understand what is my currenct situation.
Quote:
1.- Gets a FMT. 2.- Apply for a new FM3 using my new address. After all, i think that you have to do pretty much the same procedure for getting a new one and for renew it. Anyway, thank you so much for your help, i was very worry about this FM3 thing, but now it seems that i could take it easy. JosMan |
