FB.
It seems some states will allow getting a licence once you are FM-3 or FM-2. However, in the State of Colima, a doctor or nurse from out of the country can't even do volunteer work as there are SO many of both in this state & it would cut into their work. Also, getting a work permit in Mexico can sometimes be terribly time consuming, expensive & not too monetarily rewarding. Good luck. |

I looked into it about a year ago. My husband is a Mexican citizen, so we
can legally live and work in Mexico. However, the pay is sooooo low. In Ensenada for instance, Registered nurses get pay about 4-5dollar/hour. I work labor and delivery, so I know there is quite a demand for my skills but I think the best place to work in Mexico for me would be a private practice perhaps run by americans.

Fishbonker, there is no shortage of people who can work here. The problem is jobs, and so many of the available jobs pay next to nothing. Really next to nothing, according to Gringo standards.
My wife is a civil engineer. She worked for the government for 14 years before marrying me. She had even done postgrad studies in Spain. You know what she earned? The equivalent of about $500 a month. A month. Yep, the impressive salary of $6,000 annually. Mexico is a great place to retire. Hoping to earn money here is usually not a good idea. Usually. As always, there are exceptions for the clever. |

Thanks for all your replys.
Sounds like if I wanna make extra money aftre retirement I'd best be shleping up to SD. Or not. I still wonder, though, about getting a Mexican License. Thanks again. The 'Bonker
