Help! No Passport or B.C.! Leaving In Two Days!

Title says it all, but to explain further, we are leaving for my brother's wedding on Thursday. Today is Tuesday. Yesterday I went to get dh's birth certificate (have mine and kids). Could not get it because it doesn't have his name on it. !!! Has everything else - his birth weight, his dad's occupation, but no name. Mother-in-law feels terrible, said she didn't name him right away. I feel terrible, should have taken care of this earlier. Dh already hated the idea of going to Mexico, too expensive. State of MN is trying to expedite an amended birth certificate in time for us to leave. I have called the airlines and everyone I can think of. Has anyone recently traveled to Mexico from US and back without a passport or birth certificate? I would truly appreciate any advice!
