Cool Taking puppy to Mexico

Hi, I want to take my 2 month old puppy to mexico in the beginning of July, he'll be just 4 months old by then. Does anyone know what the requirements are for taking a young puppy into mexico. We'll be driving across the border and camping while we're there.

Bring the dog's shot record with you but I doubt you will be asked in Mexico. You might be asked going back into the US.

Default certificate of good health

you need a certificate of good health from your pup's vet. It is a form he or she will have. You may not be asked for it at the border, but you are supposed to have it both going and coming.

You must also check the requirements for taking the pup into the US when you return. There are shots required in both directions and the time limit is short. It would be a problem to succeed in getting the pup to Mexico and then having it quarantined on trying to return to the US. Be prepared.

They say that you should have all the paper work showing all the vaccinations and everything are up to date - my brother went to Baja last year and took his dog and they didn't ask for a thing but its better to be safe than sorry.

Have a good trip,

Wendi

Default Dogs in Mexico

I cross the border frequently with my yellow lab and to date have never been asked anything more than her name. They could ask which is why you should be prepared just in case, especially with puppies. There is a higher chance of running into trouble returning to the US with a puppy than with a grown dog so just take the shot record in case...

Mainly you will have problem on return trip but your dog should have rabbi shot 10 days before traveling and health certificate or letter from your vet.
